RURAL FIRE FIGHTING
Members of organisations interested in rural fire fighting met last evening to discuss measures which could be taken to improve this work. Mr M. M. Fleming said after, the meeting that it had been found that some steps could be taken, and there would he another meeting to put them into effect. It was considered that most complaints about the organisation of fire fighting services were unjustified in view of the difficult country in which many fire fighters had to work. Communications were found to present major difficulties, and the provision of “walkie-talkie” wireless apparatus for fire fighters would be considered at the next meeting.
