SOVIET PLANE ENGINES

Attack On Britain By

U.S. Senator

(Rec. 8 p.m.) WASHINGTON. Sept. 15 Senator James Kem told the Senate yesterday that the engine in the Rus-sian-built jet plane captured in Korea was British-made. He said that this demonstrated to Americans that the Allies were continuing to trade with Russia. A British Embassy spokesman said that the engine was definitely not made in Britain. , . , , He said that Britain had not sent jet engines to Russia or her satellites since 1947, when 55 jet engines were sold to the Soviet after the jets were taken off the secret list. Senator Kem made the charge during an attack on the Battle Act, which gives Mr Truman discretion to cut off American aid to nations trading in war goods with Iron Curtain countries.
