KUAKA AT LYTTELTON

The coastal motor-ship Kuaka (302 tons), which arrvled at Lyttelton last evening from Napier, was formerly the Leven Star. She was built at Hobart in 1947 of Australian hardwood.

Driven by two Diesel engines, the vessel has a speed of 9J knots. She was bought last year by Richardson and Company, Napier, and given her present name. The Kuaka has recently been fitted out as a refrigerated ship for the carriage of frozen meat on the coast.
