British secret service officials in Bonn reported to-day that 60,000 East German Communists were •ecretly trained in 25 brigades by Rea Army generals to form a new Soviet controlled “Red Wehrmacht” with te*rves consisting of 200,000 uniformed •oviet zone police, who are also •ring trained in the use of infantry Weapons. . . The Soviet Zone security chief, Mr William Zeisser, who built up the force, has already equipped it with Russian and German light and heavy t artillery, and al:o With small nutns of tanks, self-propelled guns and >t armoured cars. In any sudden mov*. however, the tte’v Communist artnv could also te£ive recently-built Josef Stalin tanks from the Red Armv tank parks in Roland and the Ukraine. , 4 Allied diplomats believe that the British secret service revelations are timed at silencing British and French ftpposition to the proposed western Wehrmacht, which will be 250,000 •trong.
