The Physical Side of Marriage
Too much emphasis was laid on the physical side of marriage in modern society, said Canon Bryan Green in the Christchurch Cathedral on Saturday evening. “It is put forward in books and on the screen that if the physical side of the marriage is satisfactory nothing else matters,” he said. “One reads sentences like: ‘Their lips met and they knew they were made for one another.' That is utter rot. Any other pair of lips would have fitted lust as well. We are having our sex instincts played upon to increase box office receipts and book sales.”
