SUPPER PARTY
MISS NGAIO MARSH ENTERTAINED
Miss Ngaio Marsh, producer for the British Commonwealth Theatre Company, and members of her company were the guests of honour at a supper party, given by the Canterbury Repertory Theatre Society at its rooms in Gloucester street on Saturday .night. The president of the society (Mr T. W. C. Tothill) and Mrs Tothill received the guests and were assisted by the vice-presidents (Miss N. Enright and Mr Dundas Walker) and members of the committee. Mrs Tothill presented Miss Marsh with a spray of flowers. It was a very cheery, friendly gathering, with Miss Marsh renewing old friendships, and members of her company meeting many who shared their interests. These included many of the society’s acting members, and representative of the Active Members’ Club and the junior group. Miss Brigid Lenihan, formerly of Christchurch, met several friends. Another member of the company, who spent her early life in Christchurch is Miss Wendy Whitlock, now of Hastings. Among specially invited guests were the Repertory Society’s producer (Mr Robert Young) and Mrs Young, and a former producer, Mrs L. V. Bryant, who as Miss Nancy Nicholson directed the society’s plays some years ago.
