ANGLICAN CHURCH FUNDS

(Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 30. The Archbishop of York (Dr. Cyril Garbett) to-dav appealed for financial assistance for the Church of England.

Writing in his diocesan letter, he said that the Church’s income—£l7.soo,ooo from all sources—was insufficient. More money was needed for training men for the ministry, for education. for overseas missions, and for the upkeep of the churches. Dr Garbett said that the Church of England was entirely unsupported by the State, and was dependent for its income on voluntary contributions.
