FIGHTING IN KOREA
(Rec. 12.5 a.m.) TOKYO, August 31. United Nations aircraft and artillery throughout yesterday struck at fresh Communist troops massing among the hills on the east front in Korea.
A Communist division digging in inland from Kansong on the east coast was heavily bombed and shelled. The division was probably North Korean. Other Communist groups up to 2000 strong were reported to be moving south to positions in front of the South Koreans on the east front. The ' Far East Air Force flew 900 sorties yesterday. The pilots claimed that 365 Communist vehicles had been destroyed.
