MAGISTRATE’S COURT
FRIDAY (Before Mr F. F. Reid, S.M.) DESERTION John McNab, aged 23, a seaman, was charged with deserting from the steamer Waimana on February IlMcNab, who had been sentenced to reformative treatment in tie Supreme Court, was tonvicted and ordered to be detained in custody for one month, the sentence to be served after the expiration of his present term. REMANDED Basil William Palmer, aged 21. a soldier, was remanded in the custody of the Armyauthorities until September 6 on a charge of breaking and entering the shop of Rayner Vile. Jewellers, Ltd., at 6 McKenzie’s Arcade, on July 31, and committing theft. TRAFFIC CASES In cases brought by the Police Department, offenders against the traffic regulations were dealt with as follows: Failing to give way: James Albert Fowlds, fined £3. Driving without due care and attention: Frank, Pavlell. fined 20s (failing to produce warrant of fitness, 10s). Failing to notify change of ownership of motor vehicle: Leonard Francis King. 10s. No warrant of fitness: Seddon Cosgrove. 10s.
