ALLEGATIONS BY ENEMY
(Rec. 9.20 p.m.) TOKYO, August 30. e Peking radio this morning alleged that General Ridgway had again distorted the facts of the Kaesong bombing incident. The radio denied that the Communist liaison officer, Colonel Chang, had rejected the demand by the United Nations liaison officers for a daylight investigation of the alleged bombing on August 23. “General Ridgway has again brought forward this Slander in order to camouflage the illegal bombing of the Kaesong neutral zone by a United Nations military aircraft,” said the radio, which also quoted an interview with Colonel Chang who claimed that the allegation that he had refused to allow a daylight investigation was “a pure lie from start to finish.” Colonel Chang declared that during the on-the-spot investigation before daybreak on August 23. the United Nations liaison officer, Colonel Kinney kept showing his impatience and kept urging his assistant. Colonel Murray, to end the investigation.
The radio accused General Ridgway of endeavouring to frame lies ahd claimed that his reoly on August 29' Was full of contradictions.
The Pekin? radio continued: “Why is General Ridgway as afraid of a reinvestigation as a criminal is afraid of his final trial?” The radio also asked why General Ridgway "had not the courage to send officers to make a reinvestigation since his liaison officer had charged that the original night investigation was unreliable."
