Use In Event Of West Invasion

The atom bomb Should be used against Russia in the event of a Soviet invasion ®f West Europe, Senator Brien McMahon, chairman of the Congressional Atomic Energy Committee, said to-night. Asked whether atom bombs had been "stock-piled” in Europe for “®” era i Eisenhower’s use, he said: The stock-pile of weapons is in a position, I feel sure, to rebut the Russians if and when aggression should some.'' It was United States policy to make known any further Russian explosion. "I do not believe that the Soviet atomic explosion announced by Mr Truman late in 1949 was an accidental explosion that wrecked the plant. ‘I believe it was successful, and that they are making more of the lame bomb.” The bomb exploded by the Russians was "a respectable atomic weapon—the kind I don’t want to see exploded here."
