MR HOLLAND AT NAPIER
BIG ATTENDANCE AT MEETING
ADDRESS EARLIER TO WATERSIDERS
(New Zealand Preu Auoewtion) NAPIER, August 26. Remarkable enthusiasm was shown when the Prime Minister (Mr Holland) to-riight addressed one of the biggest election meetings ever held in Napier. About 1500 people Ailed the Napier Municipal Theatre, and many stood outside to hear the address through loud-speakers. As Mr Holland walked on to the stage he was Sheeted “ y a prolonged ovation, followed by three cheers and the singing of “For He* a Jolly Good Fellow.' Mr Holland’s address of two and a half hours was frequently applauded. Two hours before his main meeting, Mr Holland, at the invitation of the Napier Waterside Workers’ Union, had addressed the members of the union at the waterfront. "I never thought I would live to see the day," Mr Holland told his listeners in the theatre later, "when I would be invited to the waterfront, receive a resolution of thanks and confidence, and then hear the lusty singing of ‘For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow.’ It was one of the most pleasant experiences of my tour.”
