Popularity of Comics
“So many adult people, with infantile minds obviously, will read only comics,” said the Rev Raymond Dudley at the Methodist Synod yesterday. Nurses in hospitals had said that male patients were ardent readers of comics. This was not a jest but a tragic fact, he said. The popularity of comics had been given some publicity recently by a United States Army authority, who had said that men in the forces were eagerly awaiting the arrival of their "funny cuts."
