ARRIVAL AT AUCKLAND AFTER LONG VOYAGE (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 29. ‘•lt’s been a grand trip, and I am about £75 better off than when I left home,*’ said Mr “Hank” Jacometti, son of a Dutch banker, who arrived at Auckland by the-Wanganella from Sydney, on his way to Canterbury to work on the Amberley sheep station of Mr H. <?. Greenwood. Mr Jacometti served in the Royal Dutch Marines, was two years m Indonesia, and on returning to Holland decided to come to New Zealand. He approached Mr Greenwood through a friend. He signed on as a steward in a tanker bound for New Zealand, but the ship was diverted to Abadan and sailed to Buenos Aires. Mr Jacometti worked as a greaser on another ship to San Francisco, did odd jobs there, and was storekeeper on a Swedish ship to Sydney.
