CHRISTCHURCH ENTERS FINAL (New Zealand Preu Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. ». Christchurch was too strong for Duneedin in the Rugby match between the two tramways teams at the Basin Reserve to-day, in the. competition tor the Kohn Shield. In the other qualifying game tor the final of thia trophy, Wellington beat Auckland. Wellington, by playing its way into the final for the shield, took the Joseph Cup tor winning the first round. Christchurch took first honours in the Junior Kohn Shield. Christchurch and Dunedin were evenly matched in the first half of a dull but earnestly-fought game. In the second spell, Christchurch began to pull away, to beat Dunedin 18-3. Scorers for Christchurch were S. Taylor, F. Spence. M. Roberts, and B. Hodges. Hodges, the team’s captain, also converted two of the tries and kicked a penalty goal. R. McKenzie scored Dunedin's only try. Wellington got away to a good start, and after half-time was leading Auckland 19-0. Rlssetto scored a try for Auckland in the last few minutes of the game. E. Hale converted. Wellington's final score was 22 points to Auckland's 5. Wellington's scorers were D. Rowell, R. Raxwortby (2), D. Hansen, and J. Collins. R. Hakarala converted two of the tries and kicked a penalty goal. On Thursday, Wellington will play Christchurch for the Kohn Shield, and Dunedin will meet Auckland for the Appreciation Cup, the losers’ consolation trophy.
