WITHDRAWAL OF BRITONS
TEHERAN, August 26. Britain has withdrawn all her oil men from the Persian oilfields.
The last British, Indian, dad Pakistan techfiicidns to-day eVactiated the South Persian fields. The Ofiiy British employees of the Anglo-Ifdfiian Oil Company now working in Persia are 360 men who will stay at Abadan as a skeleton staff tot the refinery. When the last technicians left the Khuzistan oilfield to-day, there was no sign of representatives of the Persian Oil Board to take Charge of the installatitifis. Df. Henry Giddy, the American Ambassador to Persia, is expected ifi the next few days to resume the role of “informal mediator'’ in the oil dispute. Dr Grady suspended his earlier efforts ih iriid-July Wheti Mr Averell Harriman arrived. Ifi a number of interviews with Dr. Mussadiq and other Persian leaders,. Dr. Grady will attempt to persuade them to put forward a series of draft proposals on which the British might reopen negotiations.
