CHRISTCHURCH ELECTORATES
ALL ROLL NUMBERS HIGHER The roll numbers for the eight metropolitan electorates in Christchurch have all increased since the 1949 General Election. Effective roll strengths have now been totalled by the augmented staff of the District Registrar of Electors (Mr A. A. Besley) and show that 5872 more persons are entitled to vote in the eight electorates. The outer areas have the greatest increases and the smallest increase, 111, is in Sydenham. In Avon the increase is 1358, and in Selwyn 1135. The following is a comparison of roll numbers:—
The number of names on the No. 2 supplementary rolls are:—Selwyn, 3218; Fendafton, 2824; St. Albans, 2921; Sydenham, 2153: Christchurch Central. 2489; Riccarton, 2850; Avon, 3453; Lyttelton. 2659.
