LIFESAVING GEAR ON WAHINE
COMPANY’S COMMENT (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 21. The Union Steam Ship Company to-day commented as follows on a cablegram from Darwin yesterday in which New Zealand troops were alleged to have criticised the Wahine's life-saving gear: “When the Wahine sailed from Wellington she held a passenger and safety certificate, dated August 2, 1951. which means that she complied with all requirements of the international regulations for the safety of life at sea, including the satisfactory condition of all life-saving equipment on board.”
