TWO INQUESTS ADJOURNED
An Inquest was opened yesterday, before the Coroner (Mr Rex C. Abernethy), into the death of Mary Ann Couser, aged 58, a widow, and adjourned to August 17. Mrs Couser was burned to death in her bedroom after her house at 21 Walton street had been damaged by fire on Saturday morning. An inquest was also opened into the death of Walter Prime, aged 70. and adjourned to August 17. Mr Prime was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital on July 28 after being injured in an accident in Durham street. He died in hospital on Saturday.
