LABOUR CANDIDATE FOR HASTINGS SEAT

HASTINGS, July 18. The Labour candidate for the Hastings seat at the General Election will be Mr H. E. Beattie, who at the last two elections contested the Hawke’s Bay seat. Mr Beattie’s selection was unanimously agreed upon at a meeting of the Labour Representation Committee after Mr E. L. Cullen, former Labour member for Hastings, had declined nomination, although his nomination had been confirmed by all branches and affiliations.
