ELDERLY ROAD USERS
DANGER FROM TRAFFIC EMPHASISED (From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU, July 10. "It is apparent that Moss, who was aged 81, met his death because Of his slow reaction to the position in which he found himself,” said the Coroner (Mr M. M. Enting), giving his verdict at an inquest into the death of Charles Henry Moss, of Timaru. Moss collided with a car while riding a bicycle at the corner of Church ana Stafford street, Timaru, about 8.40 a.m. on April 1. “It seems a great pity to me that a lot of elderly people cannot be persuaded to walk, instead of riding bicycles,” said the Coroner. It had been stated in the evidence that an old person's reactions were slower than those of a young person, when faced with an emergency on the roads.
