ACCIDENTS
LEVEL CROSSING COLLISION INJURED MAN STILL SERIOUSLY ILL Mr Carl Francis Schroder, a married man, aged 40, a publican, of Hokitika, who was seriously injured when a car was struck by the Picton-Christ-church express at the Fendalton road crossing early on Monday evening is still on the seriously ill list at the Christchurch Public Hospital. Mr Schroder’s condition was reported to be improving last evening. He is suffering from head and chest injuries. Of the four persons in the car Mr Schroder was the only survivor. MINER DIES FROM INJURIES (From Our Own Reporter) WESTPORT, July 10. James Fairley, a miner, aged about 50, a married man, of Denniston, was injured by a fall of stone in his working place at the Denniston State coalmine this morning. He died in the Buller District Hospital soon after being admitted this afternoon.
