ATTACK ON NEW WATERSIDER
WOUNDS REQUIRE 20 STITCHES A member of the new waterside workers’ union at Lyttelton was assaulted by two men last evening about 9 o’clock. The man, who lives at Bromley, was cycling past the Bromley cemetery when a motor-car drew up beside him and two men got out and struck him about the head with batons. The man had five wounds to his head. Each wound required four stitches, making a total of 20. The man was taken to the Christchurch Public Hospital, treated, and then sent home. The police are Investigating.
