After 13 months’ absence from the Auckland waterfront, Mr Noel Donaldson, former vice-president of the Auckland branch of the former Waterside Workers’ Union, joined the Auckland Cargo Workers’ Union this morning. Mr Donaldson has been nominated for the office of vice-president at next week’s election of officers.

Mr Justice Callan, in a decision given on November 30, held .that the expulsion was wrongful. and granted Mr Donaldson £250 and costs. Mr Donaldson represented the former union on the Auckland Harbour Board until the November local body elections, when sectional representation on the board ended. As a Labour Party candidate for an Auckland city seat on the board, Mr Donaldson headed the poll on November 18 with more than 18,000 votes. “I am joining the Auckland Cargo Workers’ Union to make an effective contribution toward furthering a better relationship between waterfront interests," said Mr Donaldson to-day.
