TRAFFIC CONTROL
Sir,—l have read with interest the letters appearing in your paper written by “A.M.J.,” “Why Not Try?” and N. R. Forbes, and having motored in the United States, Australia and New Zealand, I would respectfully suggest that a more educative and intensified effort be made to influence the average motorist, pedestrian and cyclist as to the real purpose of the “safety zone,” etc., and thus avoid the persistent hesitancy so apparent in Christchurch. The traffic control officers are most courteous and do their best, but their effort could be assisted if the foregoing suggestion were put into action.—Yours, etc., COMMON SENSE. July 4, 1951.
