BISHOP HOLLAND CONSECRATED

CEREMONY AT HAMILTON (New Zealand Press Association) HAMILTON, May 1. With full ceremony, a new Anglican Bishop of Waikato was consecrated in St. Peter’s Cathedral. Hamilton, this morning. The second holder of the bishopric is the Rt. Rev. John Tristram Holland, formerly vicar of St. Mary's Church, New Plymouth, and a son of the former Bishop of Wellington (the Rt. Rev. H. St. Barbe Holland). The consecration was performed nv the Primate of New Zealand (Archbishop West-Watson), assisted by five other Bishops of the Province of New Zealand. Bishop Holland was later the guest of honour at a civic reception, and visitors were later entertained by the diocese at the garden party at the Waikato Diocesan School for Girls. The enthronement service was held at the Cathedral this evening. Bishop Holland, who is 38 years of age. succeeds the late Rt. Rev. C. A. Cherrington. At the consecration service to-day. the Epistle was read by the Bishop of Dunedin (the Rt. Rev. W. A. R. Fitchett), the Gospel by the Bishqp of Auckland (the Rt. Rev. J. Simkin), and the sermon was delivered by the Dean of Dunedin (the Very Rev. Percival James).
