Dominion Executive Committee MEMBERS URGED TO JOIN
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. May 1. Immediate and emphatic support for the appeal broadcast by the Prime Minister (Mr Holland) for enrolments in the civil emergency organisation was given by the Dominion executive committee of the New Zealand Returned Services' Association at its meeting to-night. A resolution was passed calling on members of the association to volunteer for the organisation. . „ , , The resolution read: “The Dominion president and Dominion executive committee of the New Zealand Returned Services’ Association, in pursuance of its policy as declared in the press statement issued by the Dominion president and Dominion vicepresident on April 11, call o n _ e A able-bodied member of the R.S.A. to enrol in the civil emergency organisation in order to preserve law and order in this country. A nress statement supplied from tne meeting said that in their previous statement the Dominion president (Sir Howard Kippenberger) and the Dominion vice-president (Mr K. W. Fraser), speaking for the New Zealand association, had urged members to “stand firmly against those whose only object is to cause confusion, loss, and delay, and end this unnecessary, senseless, and evilly-intended attack on the welfare and security of this country and every one of its citizens. The ’ association’s policy had been made clear in that statement, and the association was now, in the light or graver developments, calling for tn~ fullest support for law and order and the protection of lives and property. It was felt that no member of the association would be a party to extreme measures. The association mus. and would support those freedoms for which its members had fought.
