MINOR EVENTS AT FORBURY

LADY ROWAN WINS IMPRESSIVELY (From Out Own Reporter) DUNEDIN, April 30. Lady Rowan, a winner at Meth ven at her previous start, raced well when she won the Domain Handicap at the Forbury Park meeting to-day. She broke at the start and received a further check shortly after Wards, when Isa Lei almost fe'l. She lost about 60 yards, and with a mile and a quarter to run. was in second last place with Countermark. She moved up with six furlongs to run. and at the three furlongs she went into the lead to have three lengths to spare over Colleague. Wrackdale, Isa Lei, Monty Frisco. Countermark, and Final Return at the straight entrance. Lady Rowan was kept up to her work, and she held bn to win by three lengths, fj Wrackdale catne home solidly for second after-being handy all the way, and Monty Frisco came on to beat Countermark for third by a nose. Colleague was right up next ahead of Final Return and Diamed. Countermark lost a lot of ground at the start, and Luck Ahead and Bonnie Drive were also slow. Countermark showed a useful turn of speed, and the first time he starts reasonably well he should win. Jacare broke when handy at the straight entrance. ~ Radiant Night Shows Class • Radiant Night gave further evidence of his class when he beat a large field in the Beach Handicap. The Radiant Walla colt galloped off the mark, but he had a good run through on the rails to trail Souire Dillon, the leader, at the end of three furlongs. Squire Dillon retired soon after straightening Up. and Radiant Night rah through on the inside. He had to be kept 'up tb- his work to hold off Dark Water by three-quarters of a length. Dark Water was always handy to the leaders, and he finished solidly. Aerogard, which had e bad passage, forced her way through inside the furlong to be a neck back third, with half a length to Adorlan, which was another to have a bad run in the straight. Grand Fleet broke at the start, and she was forced to change her course several times In the straight. She did well to finish a close fifth, with Night Flight. Squire Dillon, Trouville, Officious, and Best Globe right up next. Squire Dillon set a solid pace all the way, and at the straight entrance Dark Water, Best Globe (which had moved up smartly),- Radiant Night, Adorlan. Aerogard, Trouville. Grand Fleet (wide out), and Night Flight were handy. Best Globe lost a big stretch of ground at the start, or he might have been harder to beat. He should soon do better. Curiosity, Officious, Statesman, Southwind, and Brooksby Hall made mistakes in the early running. Won at False Price Kerry Girl was allowed to go out at a false price in the Bayfield Handicap, and after leading all the way. she held on long enough to beat Dalcassian by half a length. Kerry Girl was first out. and with a mile to run, she had a break of five lengths on the field. Encircle, which had been handy

throughout, was within a length and a half of Kerry Girl at the straight entrance, with Dalcassian, Lucky Ducrow, Which was not trotting well, Jenny Dillon, Bonus, Kiskeam, and Sandwrack handiest of the others. Dalcassian covered a considerable amount of extra ground, and he finished on solidly. Encircle was a length and a half back third, a neck clear of Lucky Ducrow. Bonus, which broke at the straight entrance, ahd again just near the finish, was right up next ahead of Sandwrack, Jenny Dillon, and Kiskeam, with a gap to Dauphine. Sabre Dance, Jonquil, Single Bill. Armidson, Globe Son, and Sandy Guy made mistakes at the start, or early in the running. SECOND DAY ON MAY 19 (New Zealand Pres* Attoetatton) DUNEDIN, April 30. The Forbury Park Trotting Club's application to hold the second day of its winter meeting on May 19 has been approved.
