DEPRESSED CLASSES

Sir. —In these prosperous times, when all produce is selling well and labour wages are soaring, two classes of our community receive no benefit from the good prices. First, the unfortunate person who had let his hard earned savings out on second mortgage some years ago and lost the lot during the last slump. Now the lucky mortgagors are having a great time. Second, the person who has his hard earned capital out at interest, either with Government stocks or mortgages out at a low rate of interest, making it very hard to meet the present costs of living. Surely there ought to be some merns in relieving this situation. I would like to hear some more able opinion on this subject.—Yours, ptc., VICTIM. April 13, 1951.
