SOCIAL WORKERS
Sir,—Replying to "True and False,” of April 10, I wish to thank the writer on behalf of the two officers of the Society for the Protection of Women and Children for kind expressions of appreciation at services rendered. The officers of the society are always ready to give help and advice when called upon. The society also has a special fund to administer on behalf of unmarried mothers and women in distress. This society was founded nearly 43 years ago at the time of the then Mayor of Christchurch, Mr J. A. Flesher, who apparently saw the necessity for this type' of social welfare work. There are four branches in New Zealand, one in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin. If the writer would care for more information on the matter, the secretary will be pleased for the writer to call at 94 Gloucester street, Christchurch.— Yours, etc., (Mrs) L. I. CATTELL, J.P., Secretary Canterbury Branch New Zealand Society for the Protection of Women and Children. April 13, 1951.
