MAN LOST IN BUSH
SEPARATION FROM COMPANION (New Zealand Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH. April 15. A 63-year-old resident of Raumati South, Mr William White, was lost in the bush near Shannon on Saturday and has not been located yet. A fruitless search was made yesterday and another search party will set out today. Mr White was one of a party of four men who left Shannon on Saturday morning to inspect some bush country. Others in the party were Mr John V. Beadle, of Wellington, Mr David Quillagan, of Raumati South, and Mr R. M. Rangie, of Shannon. The party left Mr Rangie’s farm on Kaihinau road to inspect some bush which is to be milled on Mr Rangie’s property. About 1 o’clock Messrs Beadle and Rangie left Messrs Quillagan and White in the bush and returned to Mr Rangie’s home, arriving about 3 p.m. Messrs Quillagan and White became separated in the bush. After making a search for his companion without result Mr Quillagan also returned to Mr Rangie’s home. It was then about 7 p.m. and nothing could be done until the next morning. It is believed that Mr White had only a small quantity of food with him ana did not have a ride. The police are organising the search party to-day.
