BABY DROWNED IN COPPER (New Zealand Press Association) MASTERTON, April 13. Missed by her Barents for a few minutes, Jennifer Mary O’Connor, aged 1 year 8 months, was found head down in a copper containing nine inches of water at her home at Kourarau Station, Gladstone, yesterday. Artificial respiration was carried out by the child's father, Mr J. W. O’Connor, and the manager of the station, Mr Eeetham. The child was rushed to hospital, but it had died.

FARMER PINNED BY TRACTOR

WAIT OF MORE THAN HOUR FOR HELP (New Zealand Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, April 13. Pinned under an overturned tractor yesterday afternoon, Lawrence Bramley, a farmer and contractor, of Uruti, waited more than an hour for residents of the district to release him. His left leg was broken and he was suffering from painful pelvic injuries. The New Plymouth Hospital late last evening reported his condition to be satisfactory. Finding he could not get Mr Bramley clear of the machine, the farm manager (Mr J. Bevege) ran about a mile and a half to the nearest telephone. His call for help was answered by 12 men' in the Uruti township, who set out by car with a stretcher and jacks with which to lift the tractor. They had to go three miles up the Uruti road, which branches from the main highway, and then drive across broken country to the back of the farm. After he was released Mr Bramley had to be carried out about two miles on the stretcher. CYCLISTS COLLIDE Joyce Egglestone, of 81 Durham street, suffered head injuries when the bicycle she yas riding was involved in a collision with another bicycle at the corner of Durham and Casa streets yesterday. She waa admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital at 1.40 p.m.' Her condition was later reported to be satisfactory. GIRL KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR Denise Cairns, aged five, of 5 Maling street, Avonside, was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital .at 2.15 pxn. on Thursday suffering from hip injuries caused when she was knocked down by a car at the corner of Armagh and Barbadoes streets. Her condition last evening was reported to be satisfactory.
