STAND ON STRIKE REAFFIRMED MEETINGS AY FOUR Main ports (New Zcmono Pra» AMuctetam) ’ WILLINGTON. April 10. Seamen at Wellington to-day reaffirmed the stand they took last week on the waterfront strike and decided Seamen’s Union (Mr F. P Walsh) auer the meeting held thia morning. After the Wellington meeting last Thursday, at which the seamen rejected the appeal of the Federation of Labour tor the resumption of normal work, the union’s national council decided that tile iasue be put to memLcrs at meetings at the four main ports. Meetings were held to-day at Auckland, Lyttelton, and Dunedin, in addition to Wellington, but Mr Walsh said that result* of the meetings at the other three borts had not yet been received by the national office. At the Wellington meeting, continued Mr Wa:«h, the following decisions were made:— . (1) The decision not to accept € tploymcnt on any ship remained unchanged. * (2> The meeting expressed the opinion that the Emergency Regulations conflicted With the principles of democracy. (3) The meeting protested against police interference in the prevention of the holding of trade union meetings.
