OCCUPATIONAL DISEASES
29 CASES IN CHRISTCHURCH IN THREE MONTHS For the first quarter of this year 29 cases of occupational disease were notified in Christchurch to the Department of Health. In the same period 106 infectious and notifiable diseases were reported. Announcing the figures in a pilot survey which is being made by the department, in conjunction with the British Medical Association, Dr. D. P. Kennedy, District Industrial Medical Officer, said yesterday that the cases were: Occupational dermatoses: dermititis, 21 cases, chrome ulcers, two; diseases caused by dusts, fumes, gases, vapours or mists: silicosis, one; caused by physical agents (non-traumatic): impaired hearing caused by noise, three; caused by infectious agents: erysipelas, one, actinomycosis, one.
