NAVAL CHIEFS RETURN
TALKS WITH AMERICAN OFFICERS (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 4. The Chief of the New Zealand Naval Staff (Commodore F. A. Ballance, DJS.O.. R.N.) and two other officers from headquarters in Wellington, the Staff Officer (Plans). Lieutenant-Com-mander B. H. C. Hearn, and the Director of Naval Intelligence, LieutenantCommander R. A. C. Cheyne, returned by air to-dav after naval talks tn Honolulu. Commodore Ballance said the New Zealanders met the Commander-in-Chief of the American Pacific Fleet (Admiral A. W. Radford) and senior American and Australian officers. The talks lasted about 10 days. “There was nothing particularly secret about them,” Commodore Ballance said. “We discussed co-opera-tion.” i
