LICENSING TRUST WANTED
POLL AT STEWART ISLAND
(New Zealand Press Association) „ INVERCARGILL. March 4. By an almost three to one majortiy, the residents of Stewart Island voted in favour of a trust-controlled licence for the island at a special poll held on Saturday. One hundred and sixtyfour of the 221 on the roll voted. Many residents were off the island at the time of the poll. The voting was: In favour of trust control, 121; against 42: informal 1. Majority for trust control 79. The Stewart Island County Council will now seek directions from the Idcensing Control .Commission about the constitution of the trust and that body, when it is formed, will assume responsibility for the arrangements necessary for the establishment of a trust hotel subject to its being granted a licence by the Awarua Licensing Committee.
