Auckland beat Hutt Valley by 8 runs to 2 In the first game of the New Zealand women’s softball championship, which opened at Wellington tt.<s morning. In the second game. Manawatu beat Waikato. 3-2. The national championships will continue until Friday. Teams are competing from Auckland, Wanganui. Wellington, Waikato, Hutt Valley, King Country, South Canterbury, Manawatu, and Central Canterbury. Results of to-day’s play were:— First Round.—Auckland beat Hutt Valley, 8-2; Manawatu beat Waikato, 3-2. second Round.—Wellington beat Wanganui, 11-1; Canterbury Central beat King Country. 13-9.
