EXPULSION OF MR SHARMA

Sir,—Mr Sharma wag never a member of any political party, and the closest that he ever got to taking an active part in politics was listening to addresses ana discussions. If Mr Swithin still doubts this he can communicate with me at Canterbury College, where I will give him gome of the sources of my information so that he can check for himself. I agree, how? ever, that Mr Sullivan’s silence is most disquieting in view of the fact that the police did attend meetings of the Canterbury College Socialist Club at which Mr Sharma was present and will have realised that he would be in New Zealand on a permit which could easily be revoked. Mr Sharma has written to me from Fiji saying that he has asked Mr Sullivan once again for those “good and sufficient’* reasons. I think we would all like to hear those March 3, 1951.
