OIL PIPELINE OVER HILLS
MAIN FROM LYTTELTON TO WOOLSTON
PROPOSAL SUBMITTED TO BOROUGH COUNCIL
A project to pump petroleum products from Lyttelton over the hills to Woolston was outlined in a letter received by the Lyttelton Borough Council last night from the vacuum Oil Proprietary, Ltd. The company asked the council under what conditions it would be permitted to run a main from the company’s depot in Godley quay up Voelas road and thence un the' hillside to the borough boundary at the hilltop. The letter added that electric power for pumps of 50 to 100 horsepower would be required from the borough. The council referred the letter to its consulting engineer and legal advisers for opinions.
