ASHLEY RABBIT BOARD

Sir, —“Advance Ashley” would have sounded much more genuine had he conveyed his congratulations to the board's foreman instead of an obviously inspired attempt to whitewash the chairman and members of the board, particularly in view of their much-criticised action in dispensing with the services of an efficient foreman. I would suggest that if the board wishes to retain the confidence of ratepayers, it should call a meeting of ratepayers and explain its actions in the above matter; also rating matters, and withdraw the dismissal notice to the foreman in the meantime.—Yours, etc., H. F. METHERELL. North Loburn, February 12, 1951. [When this letter was referred to the secretary of the Ashley Rabbit Board (Mr J. M. Finlay) he said: “ ’Advance Ashley’s' inspiration has no connexion with board members. The success of the rabbit board is largely due to two factors, first, the untiring work of every member of the board, whose services are given gratuitously, and, second, to the splendid co-opera-tion of ratepayers. The board, comprising six members, was unanimous in the dismissal of the foreman.”]
