MEANS TO PREVENT THEFTS
As a means of checking thefts of stock, the New Zealand Stock and Station Agents’ Association has agreed that the name and address of the vendor of each lot of sheep or cattle should be announced by the auctioneer as the lots are put up for sale. In a letter to Federated Farmers the association says that this cannot be a direction to auctioneering companies because the association has not the power to insist on such action, but it is sure that auctioneers will comply without demur. The association adds that it cannot agree to the entry of the names and addresses of vendors on invoices for stock, as this would entail a great deal of extra work for the invoice clerk at a time when he is already under pressure.
