U.S. WOOL MISSION FOR AUSTRALIA
Buying Outside Auction
To Be Discussed
* (N.t. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 9 p.m.) WASHINGTON. November 7. A United States mission will leave to-morrow for Sydney to take part in talks with Australian and British officials on a means whereby the United Stales can purchase wool outside the auction system for military purposes. The Sydney talks will be an extension of those held in London during the meeting of the Wool Study Group last month when New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa promised 1 to investigate the practicability of introducing special measures to meet an agreed share of the American emergency reserve.
The State Department said that if a practicable system can be devised the three southern Commonwealth countries are willing to introduce it with the least possible delay.
It is estimated that New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa among them would be asked to contribute 100,000,0001 b of wool on a clean basis, but the actual proportion of this to be obtained from the current clip must still be determined.
