Record Price for Bull

Mr Henry Sears, a New York estate dealer, to-day paid the record price of 70.500 dollars for a Hereford bull. The bull. Hillcrest Larry IV. was champion of the Chicago International Livestock Show in 1949. The previous world record price for a Hereford bull was 65,000 dollars.—New York, Nov. 7.

Jury Fr**d from Service When the Supreme Court session at Greymouth ends, jurymen who were engaged on the Runanga murder trial will be freed from similar service for another two years. "This has been a difficult and trying case,” said Mr Justice Northcroft, in concurring with the jury's verdict of manslaughter. It was customary for the jury engaged in such cases, he said, to be given indulgence in the way of relief front duty. On this occasion, however, there were other cases to be heard and the jury list was not a big one. His Honour instructed the Court registrar that the names of the jurors be withdrawn from th? jury list for the next two years.
