EXCESSIVE RADIO INTERFERENCE

INVESTIGATION BY MANUFACTURERS

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, November 3. Man-made radio interference in New Zealand has reached such a point that radio manufacturers believe that unless it is tackled it may eventually blanket all radio broadcasts. An investigating committee is being set up immediately, as decided at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Radio Manufacturers’ Federation this week. It will be representative of the Post and Telegraph Department, the Broadcasting Service, and the Hydro-electric Department. t It was stated at the meeting that ram and trolley-bus motors, and imrerfect overhead wire connexions, electric power transmission lines, fluorescent lighting, sewing machine motors, electric shavers, valve type uattery chargers, and medical apparatus caused extensive interference. Practically all the interference could be removed or reduced.
