RECOGNITION OF NEW CHINA
BRITISH REPORT OF TALKS LONDON. October 15. The diplomatic correspondent of the “Sunday Dispatch” says that Mr Truman met General MacArthur to tell him that the United States will recognise Communist China. Mr Truman is staking his political future on an attempt to “bring General MacArthur into line with the Administration’s policy.” This policy includes the recognition of Communist China in return for a promise by Peiping not to intervene in Korea. free democratic elections throughout Korea, and the reconstruction of Korean economy through relief aid.
