VICEREGAL (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, September 18. This afternoon the Governor-Gen-era! (Sir Bernard Freyberg) invested Captain T. Vaughan with the insignia of a Member of the Order of the British Empire. Later the Governor-General and Lady Freyberg held a reception at Government House. The Governor-General (Sir Bernard Freyberg), subject to his acceptance of the position, was elected patron of the New Zealand Boxing Association at the annual conference at Greymouth yesterday.

Ball, new minister for the Linwood Congregational Church, will arrive in Christchurch on Friday morning. He was a member of th e church at Chichester of the Rev. F. James Kay, whom he succeeds. Mr Eall this year completed studies at New College, London (the Congrega- , t’onal theological hall) and London University. On the Atlant's, which reached Wellington yesterday, Mr Ball was chaplain to the immigrants. The i formal induction of the new minister i will take place on October 10.
