TRAFFIC ISLANDS
Bealey Avenue-Park Terrace WORK TO BEGIN IN FEBRUARY A recommendation that, as finance is not available at present, the work of installing traffic islands at the junction of Bealey avenue and Park terrace be begun about next February or March and that provision for finance be made in next year’s estimates was approved by the City Council last evening.
The question of the finance was referred to the finance committee by the council at its last meeting.
Cr. G. Manning said it was found in committee that the finance could be found; but there were other difficulties.
“Such as planting?” suggested Cr. C. D. W. L. Sheppard (chairman of the traffic committee).
“It is a happy solution of a compromise,” remarked the Mayor (Sir Ernest Andrews), laughingly.
