U.S. CASUALTIES TOTAL 8863

WASHINGTON, Sept. 6. The United States Defence Department said to-day that 8863 American casualties in the Korean war h£d been reported to next-of-kin up to September 1.

This was an increase of nearly 2000 over the number of reported casualties up to August 25. The latest summary of casualties shows 599 killed in action. 5366 wounded, of whom 83 have since died, and 2898 missing in action.
