LOCAL BODIES’ ANNUAL TOURNAMENT Members and staffs of local bodies in Christchurch held their annual golf tournament at Avondale yesterday. Results were:— J. S. Neville Cup (Stableford bogey).— J. D. Williamson (City Council), 35 points. 1; H. Tillman (Drainage Board), 33, 2; R. R. Senior (Drainage Board), 32, 3. Best women’s score: Mrs Latham (Tramway Board). J. W. Beanland Cup (stroke round).— A. J. Cameron (Hospital Board), 64, 1; L. R. Stringer (M.E.D.), 70, 2. Best women’s score: Miss M. Talbot (City Council), 76. Best Gross Score.—Men: J. Potts (City Council), 79. Women: Mrs A. C. Freeborn (City Council) won on a count-back from Miss M. Talbot. A sealed teams’ match was won by Mrs S. F. Craze (Hospital Board), L. G. Amos (City Council), N. J. Wall (City Council), L. O. Hulbert (M.E.D.). Trophies were presented by the Mayor (Sir Ernest Andrews). WOMEN’S CUP MATCH AT CHEVIOT The annual tournament for the Mary McLaren Cup was played in wintry conditions on the Cheviot Golf Club’s course recently. The competition is open to players in the Hurunui area. The trophy was won by Miss K. Rutherford, the runner-up being Miss B. Murray, of Scargill, who also won the trophy for the best gross score. Other results were:— Best gross score with handicap of more than 31: Mrs Croft (Culverden). Best net score with handicap of more than 31: Mrs McCallum (Scargill). Flag Match.—Senior: Miss A. Murray (Scargill). Junior: Miss D. Rutherford (Cheviot). The teams’ match was won by Cheviot (Miss K. Rutherford, Miss D. Rutherford, Mrs O. D. Sewell, and Miss C. Kerr). CHRISTCHURCH LADIES’ CLUB In the L.G.U. monthly medal match played at the Shirley course yesterday. Miss Helen Buchanan was the winner in the silver medal division and three players tied. for first place in the bronze 1 medal and will play off later. The following were the best scores:— Silver Medal Division. —Miss Buchanan, 82.-7—75; Miss Z. Hudson, 81, 3—78; Mrs G. van Asch, 94, 16—78. Bronze Medal Division. —Mrs J. B. Hay, 99, 22—77: Mrs R. P. Jones, 102, 20—77; Mrs A. W Leithead, 109, 32—77. The winner in the C grade division was Mrs T. Hyde. » RAWHITI LADIES’ CLUB Results of a sealed hole match played by members of the Rawhiti Ladies’ Golf Club yesterday were :—Mrs A. B. L. Smith, 39, 6—33: Mrs A. P. Hobson, 45, 6—39; Mrs R. Brad'ng, 50, 9—41; Mrs E. T. Miller, 51, 9—42.
