M.C.C. TEAM’S VISIT AUCKLAND AGAIN SEEKS REVISED ITINERARY (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, Sept.’S. Because its application for an itinerary providing for a test match at Eden Park by the M.C.C. team in March has been refused by ’ the New Zealand Cricket Council, the Auckland Cricket Association has decided to sumbit a further request for a test, supported by a new itinerary.
“We appeal to the council to approve the itinerarv which is submitted with a view to righting a wrong which has been allowed to continue for a long time,” says a covering letter which has been forwarded to the council.
The proposed new itinerary is:— March 3, depart from Sydney; March 4, arrive in Auckland: March 5, depart from Auckland for Dunedin. March 6,7, and 8, v. Otago; March 9, arrive in Christchurch;. March 10, 12, 13, and 14, v. New Zealand, at Christchurch; March 15, depart from Christchurch for Auckland. March 16, free day; March 17, 19, 20, and 21, v. New Zealand, at . Auckland; March 22, depart from Auckland for Wellington. March 23, free day; March 24, 26, and 27, v. Wellington, at Wellington; March 28 or March 30, depart from Wellington for Sydney. Alternative dates are: March 4, depart from Sydney; March 5, arrive in Wellington and depart for Dunedin.
AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION APPOINTS COACH (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, September 5. A former Yorkshire League cricketer, G. H. Parkin, has been appointed official coach to the Auckland Cricket Association for the coming summer. He will concentrate upon the coaching of schoolboys and will be employed for five days a week, morning • and afternoon, at schools in the city. Parkin has offered to play in association competitions. The terms of Parkin’s appointment have not been disclosed. Parkin arrived in Auckland from Australia less than a mtonth ago. NEW BRIGHTON CLUB The following officers ware elected at the annual meeting of the New Brighton Cricket Club:— j Patrons, Sir Ernest Andrews and Mr J. Mathison, M.P.; president, Mr J. G. Hay; vice-presidents, 14 were elected; club captain. Mr I. H. Lee; secretary-treasurer, Mr G. Moore; auditor, Mr J. G. Arnod; committee. Messrs R. Reynolds, V. Buxton. D. Farmer, R. Thompson, M. Walls. T. Remi, and L. Dobby; delegates to Christchurch Suburban Cricket Association, Messrs V. Buxton and R. Reynolds; custodian, Mr T. Remi; selectors for opening match, Messrs I. H. Lee, R. Reynolds, and V. Buxton. Opening day will be Saturday, September 30.
